ABOUT THE

PLAY

For so long many African American women have struggled in secret with depression. In response to the need for healing and awareness for mental health issues in African American communities, Kia Skrine Jeffers, PhD, RN, PHN created We See You, Sis. Kia teamed up with the Center for Health Services & Society, and Healthy African American Families II to bring to life a one of a kind interactive experience. Kia merged her passion for health and the arts to make a space for women to feel seen and to share their journey with depression. We See You, Sis brilliantly affirms, validates, and invites those who are struggling into a community rich with connection and resources. What started as a play has now become a movement. We See You, Sis is helping women to heal through the miraculous powers of sisterhood.

Dedication

This project is dedicated to the late Dr. Loretta Jones “Ms. Loretta,” founder of Healthy African American Families. Ms. Loretta was a co-investigator and an early champion of this project. Her life brought healing and connection to so many communities.
